What is a Volvo Truck Key?

Ignition Key
The ignition key is the mechanical element that turns on the vehicle. It also opens the trunk and doors. Some keys come with additional functions, such as an emergency key and trunk release as well as a liftgate release.
The blade of the key can cause problems. A locksmith registered with Volvo can make you a new key. They can do it the majority often without a vehicle.
Some Volvo keys have features such as the red or restricted keys. The way that the car was delivered to the factory determines which features are available. Dealers can order an upgrade that blocks the restricted key function. The Keylab can be used by dealers to do this. You can also do it yourself, if you own all the required software and tools.
The key fobs are red or orange in the color. They can be exchanged between vehicles, however the special keys will need their shells to be released before they can be used in a different car. Dealers or you can modify the keys. There is no "virginizing" needed with Volvo key fobs.
Remote Key
The remote key lets you unlock the doors and start your car. It also controls the locks and can activate or deactivate certain functions, including power windows or panorama roofs. The key also has a special restricted feature that disables motion sensing*. You can purchase a key with this feature from a dealer (you require proof of ownership) or a Volvo-certified locksmith. This key is marked in red or orange. The key shell release slider matches the color therefore swapping a brand new key blade with an old one won't alter the functionality.
Programming (adding) an additional remote is simple, just follow VIDA's instructions. It does not have to be an "virgin key". Sit in driver's chair with door closed. Press the lock button on the new remote. The light on the side will flash, signalling that the key is programmable.
Keyless Entry Key
A single press of the keyless entry button locks the car and triggers the alarm. A long press shuts all windows and the panoramic roof*. The key is equipped with a button cell battery (warning: button cells are small and may cause injury if swallowed). The dealer can cut you a new keyless entry key, or an authorized locksmith with Volvo could also. They can also program your Volvo keys. You can change the shells of the key fob and it will work interchangeably.
Key Fob
Key fobs are component of a VOLVO key, which has keyless entry and lock functions. It also comes with a panic key that will activate the alarm for your vehicle. The key fob also has the ability to close your windows as well as the panoramic roof*. The key fob is housed inside a plastic shell that is a color match to your car's and also has silver buttons. you can change these shells between keys and the function will remain unchanged.
A dealer can create an entirely new blade for your key fob. A registered Volvo locksmith can do this, but they may require proof of ownership. You can also use a blank key to duplicate the emergency blade, you must get the key programmed by VIDA in order to use it inside your car.
